Benefits of a press photographer account

If you take photographs of celebrities or related to politics, business, sports, general news or similar then you have come to the right place. To be able to sell press photogrpahy via PanherMedia you need to set up a press photographer account. This gives you the following additional functions:

  • Images go live immediately after upload
  • Access to the distribution of press photographs via PantherMedia, partners and iPicturemaxx
  • Accreditation service for events

Upload information for press photographers
  • Please abide by the keywording rules found further down on this page
  • Only upload relevant press photographs. You will find further information on this below.
  • For press photographs you need a seperate photographer account at PantherMedia. The press photographer account is EXCLUSIVELY for editorial images.
  • For events with obligatory accreditation you have to be in posession of an official accreditation. You are personally liable for any damages arising from failing to observe this rule.
  • We can support you with obtaining accreditations with a letter of confirmation. Misuse of the service, for example to gain free entry to events without taking photographs for PantherMedia will cause the immediate closure of your press photographer account

The observation of these rules is strictly enforced. Not for the purpose of disadvantaging anyone but quite to the opposite: In order to engage clients with a customer friendly offer and sell more of your images. In the interest of our press photographers as a whole we will close the press photographers accounts of any photographers who do not keep to the rules.

By registering for a press photographer account you accept our Author-License-Agreement, the Terms of Use and the following rules for the upload of press photographs and use of the press service, respectively.

Ok, understool. I want to apply for a press photographer account!

Advantages at PantherMedia

Keywording rules for press photographs

CaptionsPlease give images a clear and descriptive caption. At minimum the following information must be contained in the caption:

  • name (person, company, building, etc.)
  • event
  • place, country

A caption does not have have to take the form of a sentence. Examples:

  • Angela Merkel, Opening CeBit, Hannover, Germany
  • Horst Seehofer, First tapping at Oktoberfest in Munich
  • Corporate Headoffice, Volkswagen, Wolfsburg, Germany

DescriptionIn the description you should give comprehensive informationen about an image. The following items are important for editorial images:

  • name (person, company, building, etc.)
  • event
  • place, country
  • date

Here you should, however, write complete sentences. Examples:

  • Chancellor Angela Merkel attending the opening of the computer trade show CeBit in Hannover, Germany, on March 14th, 2016
  • The  Bavarian premier Horst Seehofer at the first tapping on Oktoberfest in Munich, Germany, in the beer tent Schottenhammel on  September 17th, 2016
  • Entrance to the headoffice of Volkswagen in Wolfsburg, germany, February 2nd, 2016

KeywordsThe best method to ensure that an image is found is give it a well thought out set of keywords. To achieve this choose keywords that describe the image and are visible in the  image. Please only enter relevant terms and be sure to avoidGeben keyword-spamming. This will inevitably lead to the image being deleted from the database and, in the event of repeated cases, the press photographer account being deactivated. Not only search engines classify this as illegal SEO that leads to us being downgrades in searches but also falsifies the search results. So annoyed customers are unlikely to return for future projects. It's in also your own interest to avoid keyword spamming. Keyword spamming is among other criterea: Persons and items, that are not visible in the image; related places that have nothing to do with the location of the photograph; emotions and ambience, that have nothing to do with the photograph and many more.

Please separate the individual keywords by comma or semicolon. Examples:

  • chancellor, Angela Merkel, opening, computer trade show, CeBit, Hannover, March 14th 2016, portrait, public address, speach, politician, Germany
  • Bavarian, Bavaria, premier, Horst Seehofer, tapping, Oktoberfest, Munich, beer tent Schottenhammel, September 17th 2016, Germany, beer keg, tap, stein, beer, first pint
  • entrance, headoffice, Volkswagen, Wolfsburg, Februar 2nd 2016, Germany, gate, factory premises, corporate security, warning sign

Primary keywordsSpecify the most important keywords here (max. 8) . Hits on the primary keywords are displayed further forwards in the search result.

Choosing photographs to upload

Making the right choice regarding which photographs to upload is not only time und storage space friendly for you and us, but first and foremost it's customer friendly. Customers do not enjoy clicking through hundreds of similar images of the same person at the same event but prefer to get to a suitable image quickly. The question is therefore: To upload or not to?

  • Documentary images for editorial purposes are images about important events of current affairs, news, politics, sports and entertainment as well as historical material.
  • Illustrative editorial images show persons, places, items and events, that can be used for the illustration of articles in newspapers, magazines, blog entries, websites and other non-commercial projects.  Unlike commerical images, these images may also depict branded items or logos.

Don't upload an image in lots of similar variations. Do select the best images of an event, object, or person and only upload images that differ from each other, i.e. only 3 images of a person from a red carpet shoot - ideally a portrait, a full length portrait and a profile shot. Absolutely not a series of 100 images offering only slightly differing view points and poses.

Accreditation Service

Photographers with a press photographer account have access to our "accreditation service". If you want to take part in events that require a accreditation for press photography, we can assist you with a letter of approval. Since PantherMedia may only send one or very few photographers to an event, accreditations are rare. Please contact us directly for accreditations.
